To prevent fading or damage during transportation, windows may be covered with a glazing tape or sticker that is removed prior to installation. However, removing the tape or sticker from the window may be a difficult and timeconsuming task, as it often leaves an adhesive residue on the window that must be scraped or scrubbed off.

[0002] One embodiment of the present invention includes an exterior narrow window stile having a body, a top and a bottom. The body comprises a substantially rectangular shape with a length dimension being greater than a width dimension, and comprises a pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces that extend from the top to the bottom and that are oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle from each other. The top extends from at least a portion of one of the main planar surfaces and is angled to provide water drainage from the top surface of the body. The pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces extends between a pair of opposed side edges, and the bottom extends from a portion of at least one of the side edges and is oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle relative to the main planar surfaces to provide a substantially horizontal support surface below the body.

[0005] The present invention is directed to an exterior narrow window stile, and, in particular, to an exterior narrow window stile that facilitates water drainage from the top surface thereof and that provides a substantially horizontal support surface below the body thereof.
[0006] An exemplary exterior narrow window stile 10 in accordance with one embodiment of the present invention is illustrated in FIG. 1. The exterior narrow window stile 10 comprises a body 20, a top 30 and a bottom 40.
[0007] The body 20 comprises a generally rectangular shape having a length dimension 12 that is greater than a width dimension 14. The body 20 comprises a pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces 21, 22 that extend from a top edge 23 of the body 20 to a bottom edge 24 of the body 20, and that are oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle from each other. The main planar surfaces 21, 22 are opposed to one another and define an outer surface 25 of the body 20 and an inner surface 26 of the body 20. The body 20 defines a cavity 28 contained therein that is defined by the main planar surfaces 21, 22, the top edge 23 and the bottom edge 24. The cavity 28 is adapted to receive a window pane 11 therein, wherein the window pane 11 may be secured to the body 20 by any suitable means, such as one or more clips, screws, nails, adhesives or some combination thereof.

Claims
1. An exterior narrow window stile, comprising:
a body comprising a substantially rectangular shape with a length dimension being greater than a width dimension, the body comprising a pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces that extend from a top to a bottom and that are oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle from each other;
a top extending from at least a portion of one of the main planar surfaces and is angled to provide water drainage from a top surface of the body;
wherein the pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces extends between a pair of opposed side edges;
wherein the bottom extends from a portion of at least one of the side edges and is oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle relative to the main planar surfaces to provide a substantially horizontal support surface below the body.
2. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 1, wherein the top is oriented at an angle less than ninety degrees relative to the one of the main planar surfaces.
3. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 1, wherein the top extends from the top edge of the body.
4. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 1, wherein the bottom extends from the bottom edge of the body.
5. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 1, wherein the body, top and bottom are formed of a molded plastic.
6. An exterior narrow window stile, comprising:
a body comprising a substantially rectangular shape with a length dimension being greater than a width dimension, the body comprising a pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces that extend from a top to a bottom and that are oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle from each other;
a top extending from at least a portion of one of the main planar surfaces and extends in a substantially horizontal direction over the other of the main planar surfaces, the top comprising a planer surface that is angled relative to the planer surfaces of the main planar surfaces to provide water drainage from a top surface of the body;
wherein the pair of generally parallel main planar surfaces extends between a pair of opposed side edges;
wherein the bottom extends from a portion of at least one of the side edges and is oriented at a substantially ninetydegree angle relative to the main planar surfaces to provide a substantially horizontal support surface below the body.
7. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 6, wherein the top is oriented at an angle less than ninety degrees relative to the planer surfaces of the main planar surfaces.
8. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 6, wherein the top extends from the top edge of the body.
9. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 6, wherein the bottom extends from the bottom edge of the body.
10. The exterior narrow window stile as set forth in claim 6, wherein the body, top and bottom are formed of a molded plastic.
